2025 Field Trip Schedule:

Mark your calendars and join us as often as you are able!

Generally scheduled for the third Saturday of the month but subject to change based on weather and field trip guide availability. Details for each trip will be released in advance closer to the event as noted below.

NON-MEMBERS are always welcome!

Please check the club's general Facebook page for details on final date, time, and meeting location. Search for "Northeast Wisconsin Bird Club" on Facebook and check "Events".

MEMBERS will receive an email with details on final date, time, and meeting location but are also encouraged to check the special "NWBC Members Only" Facebook page.

JANUARY. FOX CITIES AND FREEDOM FLAT 

In search of local wintering specialties including waterfowl along the Fox River and Snowy Owl and other field birds in the Freedom area.

​

FEBRUARY.  GREEN BAY AND DOOR COUNTY

Target:  Waxwings, and Grosbeaks and Crossbills, oh my!

​

MARCH. MACK STATE WILDLIFE ARE

Target: Early spring migrants and lingering winter visitors.

Birding will be followed by a warm-up by Damn Yankees Watering Hole.

​

APRIL 19. BIRDING BY TROLLEY

Trolley ride through Killsnake, Collins, and Brillion State Wildlife Areas looking for early migrants and waterfowl.

Meets at Chilton Walmart for 8:00 a.m. departure.

Lunch following at Herradura Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, 613 Calumet Street in Chilton.
 

MAY. HIGH CLIFF STATE PARK

Walkabout with club member Dar Tiede in search of spring migrants.
 

MAY WEEKENDER.  WASHINGTON ISLAND BIRD FESTIVAL

Date and arrangements to be determined.
 

JUNE. BUENA VISTA GRASSLANDS

Target: Sparrows, Upland Sandpiper, Western Meadowlark, Prairie Chicken, and more!

Meet tour guide Neil Schroeder at the Pick & Save parking lot east of exit 250 in WAUPACA.
 

JULY. WOLF RIVER KAYAKING THROUGH THE NAVARINO WITH KAREN SIEBERS

Meet 9AM at the Highway 156 boat landing. Expect 2.5 hours on the water.
 

AUGUST. HORICON MARSH (Auto Tour and Old Marsh Road)

Target: Marsh and grassland birds.

SEPTEMBER 20th. Bay Beach & Ken Euers Wetlands (Brown County)

*The weather forecast calls for rain this Saturday.  There is also a “Walk With Wildlife” event happening at Bay Beach so the Bay Beach trails and parking lot will be very busy.  
Since the field trip has no leader, if you choose to go, a good meeting spot would be at the bridge in front of the wildlife center to meet up with any other club members who choose to attend. * 

Meet at the bridge in the Bay Beach parking lot at 9:00am.

Car Pool at the Appleton Woodman's parking lot (behind the gas station at 7:00)

Target: Fall warblers/migrants, shorebirds, and waterfowl.

OCTOBER . Birding "The Woodpile Wildlife Refuge" with Ross Mueller.

A 300 acre wetland & woodland complex on the north side of Waupaca. 
 949 Marsh Street, Waupaca.

Meet at the parking lot at 9 AM on October 11th. Plan on slow, easy hiking approximately 2 miles. I will be leading and will post updates beforehand. The plan for lunch is the Old Indian Crossing Casino on the Chain O’ Lakes.

NOVEMBER ,15. Lake Michigan Shoreline

Starting in Manitowoc to the Terry Andrea State Park. 

Meet at the park & ride on Hwy 10 & County N in Harrison at 8:00.
